Five Methods for Taking a Screenshot on a Mac

  • Shift + Command + 3 can instantly capture the complete screen on a Mac.

You can alter a screenshot on a Mac by clicking on the little thumbnail preview in the bottom-right corner of your screen when you capture one. Using the screenshot menu, you may enable and disable this capability.

Capture a certain window: By holding down Shift, Command, and 4, you may press the spacebar. A camera will appear in the crosshair. Click on the window you wish to capture while the camera pointer is over it. The screenshot on a Mac will have a gray border around it when it is saved.

Lock in the shape and size: Press and hold the spacebar after moving the crosshair to create a highlighted area to lock in the form and size. By locking it, the box cannot expand or contract. The box may then be moved anywhere on the screen, and after releasing the spacebar, a screenshot will be taken.

Adjust the height and width: After dragging the crosshair to create a highlighted area, hold down the Shift key while adjusting the height and breadth. You may do this to change the box’s height and width. Using the Shift key will switch between height and width. To capture a screenshot, release the trackpad or mouse button.

Use the snapshot menu by pressing Shift + Command + 5

The Screenshot program includes the most recent macOS versions (Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey, and Ventura). 

1. press Shift + Command + 5 to launch the Screenshot app. The screen’s bottom will reveal a little navigation panel.

2. You may capture a screenshot of the whole screen, a particular window, or a highlighted area using the three icons on the left. You can screenshot anything you want to show someone else on your Touch Bar by hitting Shift + Command + 6. Your Touch Bar will be completely recorded right away.

Location of your Screenshot on a Mac
